Thyroid Cancer
Most nodules found in the thyroid gland are benign — but knowing which ones need further investigation takes expertise. In the office, thyroid nodules are evaluated with ultrasound, and fine-needle aspiration biopsy is performed on those that warrant it.
When cancer is diagnosed, surgery is the cornerstone of treatment. The operation is planned individually according to the tumor's type, size and extent, with particular care taken to protect the vocal cord nerves and the parathyroid glands.
